Stephen Girard was in the book a man who oversaw a mansion turn into a hospital and hired doctors and nurses to help citizens heal from the Yellow Fever. In real life he did exactly the same. Also he took charge again in the outbreak in 1788-1789. After the Yellow Fever he opened a bank in Philadelphia and lived the rest of his life running it.

This picture represents the mood in chapter 29 of Fever, 1793. The field, the blue sky, the flowers, the mountains, and the sun represent the happiness of Mattie finally be reunited with her mom and the fever dieing down. The one cloud over the mountain pouring rain represents the fact that even though the fever is almost gone, problems still loom over Philadelphia.
1) Discussion Question #1 Will the mom ever recover to full strength?
No, she won’t because she is always is always looking for something to do because she has done that her whole life.
2) Discussion Question #2 Will Mattie and Nathaniel get married? Why do you believe your answer is true?
Yes, because it is true love and they will get married because every book needs a good ending.
3) Discussion Question #3 Does Mattie’s mom like Nathaniel or is she just pretending because she is sick/weak?
She is pretending, no mom wants to give away her daughter and she kind of has to play the role of a father trying to protect his daughter.
4) Discussion Question #4 Were you shocked by the grandfather’s death? Why or Why not?
I was shocked, I thought he was going to survive to the end of the book, because he is a really well built character.
